A Joyful Fall Wedding at Lake of Isles
Alex & Brian’s fall wedding at Lake of Isles was one of those days that just felt good from start to finish — thoughtful, emotional, and full of genuine connection. From getting ready together to a heartfelt first look and a golden-hour portrait session surrounded by fall color, their wedding was a beautiful celebration of love in every sense of the word.
As a photographer, it’s always an honor to document weddings that feel true to the couple — and Alex & Brian’s day was exactly that.
Getting Ready Together in Norwich, Connecticut
Both grooms chose to get ready together at a stunning Airbnb in Norwich, CT, and it set the tone for the entire day. Instead of splitting up right away, everyone shared the space for hair and makeup, creating a relaxed, joyful atmosphere filled with laughter and anticipation.
And I have to say — the kitchen alone deserved its own moment. With a massive industrial refrigerator and a chef-worthy gas stove, it was a dream space (and an incredible backdrop for getting-ready photos).
Custom Style & a Meaningful First Look
Once it was time to get dressed, Alex and Brian each stepped into their custom Indochino tuxes, tailored perfectly and packed with personality. Every detail was intentional — from fit to fabric — and it showed.
For their first look, we created a moment that felt intimate and emotional. Alex waited outside while Brian was escorted by his father, eyes closed, until he reached his groom. Standing back-to-back, they took a breath, turned around, and instantly lit up. The reactions were priceless — the kind of moment that reminds you why first looks are so powerful.
A Fall Ceremony at Lake of Isles
After portraits, we headed to Lake of Isles for family and wedding party photos before the ceremony. As guests gathered, you could feel the excitement building — everyone ready to watch Alex & Brian say their vows.
Their ceremony was heartfelt, emotional, and deeply personal. Two grooms, surrounded by people who love them, promising forever in a place that felt calm and intentional. It was one of those ceremonies where you don’t rush — you just let the moment happen.
Golden Hour Portraits & Fall Color Magic
One of my favorite parts of the day came right after the ceremony — hopping into golf carts and heading out for portraits. Fall had fully arrived, and the trees were showing off with rich color and soft, golden light.
The bridge at Lake of Isles is always a standout, especially for portraits. Those leading lines, paired with a relaxed couple who trusted the process, made for some of my favorite images of the day.
This is where documentary-style wedding photography really shines — letting couples move naturally while the environment does the rest.
A Lively Reception with Local Motion
Once cocktail hour wrapped up, guests moved into the ballroom at Lake of Isles for the reception — and it did not disappoint. Geoff and Grace from Local Motion absolutely crushed it, keeping the energy high and the dance floor full.
From heartfelt toasts to all-out celebration, the night felt like the perfect reflection of Alex & Brian: joyful, welcoming, and full of life.
A Celebration of Love, Inclusivity & Connection
Alex & Brian’s fall Lake of Isles wedding was more than just beautiful — it was meaningful. Two grooms. One incredible day. Zero compromises on being fully themselves.
As a wedding photographer, I’m proud to photograph and celebrate LGBTQ+ weddings, and to create space where every couple feels seen, supported, and celebrated exactly as they are.
If you’re planning a gay wedding in Connecticut (or beyond) and want photos that feel natural, emotional, and true to you — I’d love to connect.
