Astoria Park Engagement Session in New York City
A Relaxed, Romantic NYC Engagement Shoot
On a quiet, beautiful morning in Astoria Park, Alex and Gabby met me for their engagement session overlooking the water. With sweeping views of the skyline and a peaceful pace that felt worlds away from the bustle of the city, Astoria Park offered the perfect setting for an engagement session that felt natural, effortless, and true to who they are as a couple.
Even though I’m now based in Florida, sessions like this are a reminder that great engagement photos aren’t about where you are—they’re about how you feel together in the space you choose. Astoria Park gave us room to slow down, move organically, and focus on connection.
Why Astoria Park Is Perfect for Engagement Photos
Astoria Park is one of those rare NYC locations that offers both iconic views and quiet corners. Nestled along the East River, the park provides unobstructed waterfront scenery with the Hell Gate Bridge stretching across the background and Manhattan visible in the distance.
For couples who want an urban feel without the chaos, this park is a dream. The walking paths, open green spaces, benches tucked beneath mature trees, and long river views all make it easy to create variety without constantly relocating.
A Natural, Movement-Focused Engagement Session
From the start, Alex and Gabby were completely at ease together. Instead of stiff posing, we focused on walking, pausing, and letting moments unfold naturally. Hand-holding, shared laughs, quiet conversations—these are the in-between moments that tell the real story.
One of my favorite parts of the session was photographing them along the running path near the water, where the river and skyline opened up behind them. The scale of the city contrasted beautifully with the intimacy between them, creating images that feel both cinematic and deeply personal.
Balancing City Energy with Intimate Moments
Astoria Park is known for its recreational spaces—tennis courts, a public pool, and open athletic areas—but what really stands out for engagement sessions is its ability to feel calm even in a major city.
We took advantage of shaded paths and simple park benches to slow things down, allowing moments to breathe. These quieter spots are perfect for couples who want engagement photos that feel genuine and connected rather than overly styled.
Engagement Sessions Beyond Florida
While I’m now based in Florida and photograph engagements along the coast, in gardens, and on beaches throughout the Southeast, I still love traveling for sessions that are meaningful to my couples. Engagement photos should reflect your story—whether that’s a favorite park, a city you love, or a place tied to your relationship.
If you’re planning an engagement session outside Florida or dreaming up something a little different, I’m always happy to help you choose a location that fits your vision.
Planning Your Own Engagement Session
When choosing a location like Astoria Park—or anywhere meaningful—think about:
How the space allows you to move naturally
Whether it offers variety without feeling rushed
How it reflects your relationship, not just the scenery
The best engagement sessions aren’t about perfection—they’re about presence.
If you’re ready to start planning an engagement session that feels authentic, relaxed, and true to your relationship, I’d love to connect and help you bring that vision to life.
